No Debt, No Credit, No Problems with Steve Stewart

I want you to learn what it has taken me a decade to realize: That you can live with “No Debt, No Credit, an No Problems”.

Are you looking for a simpler way to handle your money and build wealth? I have discovered that it doesn’t take a degree in Finance to be debt free and you don’t need to play the credit-score game to be credit-worthy. Since 2007, I have helped people understand how money really works. I teach people how to save, buy things without credit cards, and create rich habits instead of a credit score. Each episode will feature an in-depth discussion about a financial topic or service, we will learn about income taxes with an ex-IRS Agent, and we will learn from Tom Corley’s Rich Habits.

No Debt, No Credit, No Problems: “Is Options Trading For You with Joshua Belanger”

In this episode of “No Debt, No Credit, No Problems”, we learn about Options Trading from Joshua Belanger, an Option Trading Expert. He claims it is better to buy options than use a buy-and-hold strategy of growing wealth – and it’s certainly more exciting than putting money into your 401(k)! Is options trading a strategy to incorporate in your investment activities? How risky is option trading? And I ask if this isn’t simply another form of gambling. Also, Andy Magnus joins us to discuss who gets a 1099 and what to do with it. Lastly, in our Habits of the Rich segment, I switch it up with a post by Paula Pant about some simple morning habits that make you feel invincible.

No Debt, No Credit, No Problems: “Debt-Free Story with Jessica Garbarino”

While visiting relatives, Jessica watched as her grandma bent over a desk to balance the household checkbook. They had always accounted for every penny, but Jessica didn’t know where her money was. She went home, did the math and discovered $56k in debt from student loans, and credit cards, and car debt. That’s when Jessica heard about a financial literacy class from a friend and went full-bore. However, while taking care of her aging grandparents in Florida, she lost her contracting job. Finding herself in a soft real estate market with no money, Jessica got behind on her house in Minnesota and had to let it go. Her $100,000 condo sold for $35,000 in foreclosure. She was beaten down and emotionally vacant at that point. Jessica had no energy to continue paying down her debt, although she did avoid taking on new debt. A friend in an online community posted a challenge: “ What do you want to accomplish in the next 5 years? ” Her answer was “ Be debt free ”, so she got after it. In March 2015 she paid off her final debt, her student loans! Now Jessica is out there to give single women the motivation, support and accountability they need – just as she needed it years ago.

No Debt, No Credit, No Problems: “Take the Pain Out of Buying and Selling a Car with iAutoAgent.com”

Get more money for your car without having to list, show, or even deliver it. iAutoAgent.com is a service for buyers and sellers with great customer service.

As a buyer, you shop for cars via their website. HD video is recorded on every car they list and all the scratches and problems are spelled out so there are no surprises. They bring the car to you and facilitate the process for the seller.
As a seller, you fill out a form and they do the rest. IAutoAgent.com representatives assess the true market value of your car, just as a car dealership would, but get you more money by selling it for more money than a dealership would give you. They bring the car to prospective buyers and complete the transaction for you – including a visit to the bank to release the lien.

How does iAutoAgent make money? They charge you $1,495 if they get the assessed price plus their commission. If they can sell the car for more than the assessed value, you split the extra with them. IAutoAgents do not get paid until you complete a 3-question survey – and the rating dictates how much the agent receives. This ensures the person helping you sell your car gives you the best service possible.

iAutoAgent is a very cool new service that is changing the car-buying landscape.
Also, Andy Magnus joins us to discuss what types of income is considered taxable in the eyes of the IRS.
In our Habits of the Rich segment, I share Tom Corley’s “20 Minutes a Day to Wealth, Health and Happiness” article.

No Debt, No Credit, No Problems: “5 Reasons You Should Never Default on Student Loans with Jay Fleischman”

A story was picked up by the news and circulated with great fanfare: Man arrested for not paying student loans. This, of course, was not accurate. The man had failed to appear in court after being pursued by the government for nearly a decade.

No, Virginia, there is no debtor’s prison for failure to pay student loans. However, my guest Jay Fleischman gives us 5 Reasons We Should Never Default on Student Loans – and they are equally as scary.

I also get our ex-IRS Agent, Andy Magnus, to tell us where to look for income tax credits, deductions, and write-offs when paying for higher education.
In our Habits of the Rich segment I share tons of data and give you Tom Corley’s 30 Days To Reinventing Your Life strategy. Grab a pencil and sheet of paper. Let’s get started!

No Debt, No Credit, No Problems: “Changing the Credit Score Landscape with Steve Ely from eCredable”

eCredable is Changing the Credit Score Landscape Debt-free people: Have no fear. You can prove you are credit
worthy without a FICO score. Steve Ely joins us to share how the credit scoring landscape is changing. Not only are
more lenders leaving the traditional credit score algorithm behind but they are finding more consumers are credit
worthy without it! eCredable is a service that works WITH consumers to build their credit reports. Once a history
for things like rent, electric bills or paying car insurance has been established, eCredable comes in to provide
a prospective lender, landlord, or mobile phone company a full and accurate credit rating. You see, a traditional
credit score evaluates you on the following:

— How much you borrow – even if you pay off a credit card every month
— How much credit you have left
— How long you have been borrowing money
— How often you miss a payment or are late

What it does not include are non-debt payments like insurance, utilities, or even rent – the things almost everyone
has! In other words: You no longer need to borrow money to prove you are good for a rental, cell phone, or even a
mortgage. You can get a free account with eCredable. You will only pay when you want to
prove you are credit worthy (average total cost between $90 – $120) Also, our ex-IRS Agent tells us our
personality style dictates how/when we take deductions. Finally, Tom Corley’s Rich Habits Test for Parents.
I scored a 14. Can you beat that?

No Debt, No Credit, No Problems: “SoFi joins us in the No FICO Zone”

The times – they are a-changin’. You do NOT need to focus on your credit to be successful or even to scrape by. In fact, traditional credit worthiness measures are under fire because enough people are finally coming to the realization that the Emperor Has No Clothes.

And some of them are abandoning the one-sided measurement of debt system developed by FICO, which has been around for at least 3 decades!

Today, we talk about a broken piece of the financial system and what one company is doing to bring fairness to the marketplace.

Dan Macklin, Co-Founder of SoFi, joins us in the NO FICO Zone

Also, our former IRS Agent-turned-CPA, Andy Magnus, talks about how the three levels of government try to get along when it comes to tax policy.
And Tom Corley shows us how the rich are lucky.

No Debt, No Credit, No Problems: “How to Retire Inspired” – a Visit with Chris Hogan”

Are you excited about retirement? Of course not; how are we supposed to beexcited about something we won’t experience – and can’t accurately forecast – when it’s decades away? Many of us have a fear of being unprepared for retirement – and that’s because we don’t have our number. What is “our number”? My guest today is Chris Hogan, one of Dave Ramsey’s speakers. He will show us how we can be ready and inspired for retirement.

Also in this episode: Our former IRS Agent turned CPA, Andy Magnus, erases all confusion between tax credits and deductions. In the Rich Habits segment we talk about the 4 Destructive Habits of the Poor. Finally, I answer a listener’s question: Is it better to file a Chapter 7 bankruptcy or settle debts once the credit cards have charged them off?

No Debt, No Credit, No Problems: “Myths That Ruin Retirement with Roger Whitney”

What image comes to mind when I say the word retirement?

— Drinks with umbrellas and sandy beaches?
— Do you think of Captain Stubing and cruise ships?
— Tee times (if you are a man) or Tea Times (if a woman)?

There is no wrong answer here – except maybe all of them – because you don’t really know what retirement will be like until you get there.

Will you have enough? How much is enough? Does the word retirement really mean what we think it does?

Today’s guest will give us the 4 Myths that can ruin your retirement to help ensure you are mentally prepared to retire YOUR way. We also Talk Taxes with Andy Magnus: Why do we have to file a tax return? He explains there are benefits through tax deductions and, of course, that it’s the law.

Rich people figured out that the words we use every day create perceptions. The more words you know, the better your ability to communicate and greater is the perception of your intelligence. Tom Corley, author of Rich Habits, learned five new words a day and instantly impressed a girl at a rathskeller. I’ll share his story and show how we can all improve our vocabulary – and have fun while doing it!

Today we introduce tax expert, Andy Magnus. Andy is an ex-IRS Agent and trained other IRS agents before moving on to better things as a CPA. Andy is going to use his incredible talent of explaining complex topics while bringing a bit of humor to the table as well. Andy explains the training and qualifications it takes to become an Enrolled Agent with the IRS and how little it takes to become a tax preparer in our country. While Andy is not an Enrolled Agent – nor does he play one on TV – he did marry one, so he has the inside scoop on both sides of the fence! Here are just a couple of the random questions I asked Andy…

— If you were President, what would you do about the tax code
— What is your favorite thing about income taxes
— How can a CPA “tweaking” the numbers change a underpayment into a refund legally

No Debt, No Credit, No Problems: “You Can Have No Debt, No Credit, and No Problems”

Can we be honest here? You are listening to a show about personal finances.

Why?

I can promise you it isn’t because of the humor or my good looks. You are here because you want to do this “money thing” better – and I’m right there with you! I want you to learn what it has taken me a decade to realize: That you can live with “No Debt, No Credit, an No Problems”. Are you ready to get started? C’mon. Take my hand. Let’s go. I have been an Ambassador of Personal Finance for many years. My history takes us back to 2007 when I first started coaching people. The teachings of Dave Ramsey, a popular radio host who teaches personal finance, had been ringing in my head for a few years. I had spent a lot of time learning, researching, and scrutinizing certain facets of the world of Personal Finance. I also found much of what the average American needs to know about money is in the Bible. Being a born-again Christian for most of my life, it was important for me to take lessons learned from Jesus’s parables and the scriptures to sculpt a life more in line with my faith. There was a conflict between good, honest, common sense financial principles and what I would hear from experts on TV and the pre-approved credit card offers I received in my mailbox every day.
