The 2GuysTalking
Podcast Network's How to Make a Podcast
Information Station
There are easily as
many ways to create an award-winning cake, as there are to make a
podcast. Here are some recommended steps, tips tricks an goodies to
create a podcast from the 2GuysTalking Podcast Network!
An Idea --
Everyone is
under the impression that podcasts are all about being
technically savvy, and they aren't. It's all about the
original idea and goal. you can have the most technically
precise and accomplished podcast that can still SUCK! If
you're base idea is solid, the rest will follow! Outline
your ideas and remember there is no "formula" for a good podcast
without a solid initial idea.
Record It --
Now that you've
got your idea and some structure (an introduction/opening, some
meat material, a conclusion and an the end - record it!
Get yourself either a headset with a microphone, or if you
foresee yourself giving it a longer haul, look on the web for a
variety of podcast packages. We got the gear we initially
used for less than $80, and have converted to what is real
studio-based equipment, but it doesn't cost an arm and a leg at
all. A nice headset (that we still use for monitoring)
cost less than $40, and the software to give you a
variety of options when recording (we recommend
Mixcraft - the Official Software of the 2GuysTalking
Podcast Network) will cost you less than $100 total. A
very small pay in for what is potentially a very rich, learning
and creative experience overall. Get familiar with your
voice and give don't be afraid to give it a few tries. Get
your final initial recording down and give it a listen.
Now What? --
You've got the
initial recording done, now what? Contact the 2GuysTalking Podcast
Network we'll send you more details about our contest.
It really is THAT simple!
For those
looking to continue from here, you'll need to find a webhost
(2GuysTalking can host your files for you at a very reasonable
cost), and you'll need to figure out a way to present your
podcast to the masses. 2GuysTalking can help you with that
as well!
