In mid-2007, Mike
Wilkerson from The 2GuysTalking Podcast was invited to become a
Staff Writer for a website he and fellow podcasters on the Network
had been following called, "The
Savage Science - MMA, Mayhem and More!"
It
was an honor to be welcomed into into a
great site dedicated to the fastest growing sport on the planet (MMA),
and as the fan-following of 2GuysTalking grows, the eventuality of
taking Mike's authored articles to podcast form was
simply a matter of time. And now it's happened. Read on below and
listen to the ported podcasted fandom of Mike Wilkerson's articles
from SavageScience.com, pulled into an always growing and popular podcast

We've been mostly treated to 7 weeks of great showcases of the
development of a variety of fighters that are looking to win it all, to
become SPIKE's next "Ultimate Fighter". Are they all potential winners?
Not really. This season has offered what I think is easily the most
diverse skill set to date that's allowed us to see "it all." From those
on the cusp of fighting greatness, to the men where we wonder how
they've reached this level in this venue. Episode 8 provides us with
even more perspective and gives us a quick glimpse into the realm of
this year's semi-finals! It's all include in this episode of The

-- A lot of people expected a LOT more out of Scott Junk: Good
grief, who DIDN'T. Everyone that was interviewed, including Dana White,
President of the UFC touted Scott Junk as the second coming and the man
who would not only destroy Matt Mitrione, but have a good chance to take
the title of this year's show. Not so, Dana. With the sample gas tank
displayed this evening, I think it's almost safe to say that Scott Junk
WILL NOT BE THE ULTIMATE FIGHTER: Heavyweights 2009. I am eager to see
how his next fight will go however. More on that below."

Three weeks ago, we enjoyed the BEST EVER episode of SPIKE's The
Ultimate Fighter. This week - well, let's just say we witness something
different. Tempers, tirades, uncontrolled vocal spasms, disgusting-level
conditioning and more are the focal point of this episode that hearkens
back to the old, tired, sophomoric avenues of last year's The Ultimate
Fighter. What happened? Will we see a fight that changes the tone of the
season? Will we eventually see "the Rat Snap?" We'll find out as we
engage this week's not-so-lucky 7th episode of The Ultimate Fighter on
SPIKE during the 2GuysTalking Podcast: Savage Science Style!

Ultimate Fighter, I do know when people should shut their hole.
Rampage's team, and his reputation are so far IN the hole that he'd
collect so much more respect if he'd just zip it, and try to cobble
together the remaining fights inside this season of The Ultimate

I reviewed the entire season of MTV's "Bully Beatdown" last season for
The Savage Science LINK and got a lot of satisfaction out of it. Taking
out one's frustrations via the fists of a 6'5", 220 pound man on someone
that's beat your ass and humiliated you many times before is - well -
titillating. This episode of SPIKE's The Ultimate Fighter: Heavyweights,
provides you with an in-depth perspective of the people that are often
jilted both in real life and this gooney televised life here via The

-- What's the point of alcohol in the house? Another call to the powers
that make this and other real-time fight shows. What exactly is the
purpose of booze in a training regimen? That's what I thought. How about
creating a new, responsible precedent for not having alcohol at all in
the house? This is 10 weeks we're talking about. Won't the people
participating in the show benefit from being dry as a fish and focusing
on fighting the entire time they're at the house? Get with the program, UFC/SPIKE!"

The
Ultimate Fighter: Heavyweights - Week 5 Review Listen to
the "TUF Tally Call" for this fight!
There's never been an
episode of The Ultimate Fighter on SPIKE that's had such an uphill climb
before it ever aired. Last week's Episode 4 of The Ultimate Fighter:
Heavyweights was not only a great episode, but one of the best of all
time, showcasing the best and (mostly) worst of what can happen in the
professional fight game to a fighter dropped into a coaching scenario -
that doesn't really want to. We find out more about that, we see one of
the question-mark-making fights, and wonder exactly how many coaches
were assigned to this season's show. It's all taking place here in week
5 and we encourage you to chime in and tell us what you think about this
episode of season 10 of SPIKE's The Ultimate Fighter: Heavyweights! Be
sure to listen to our TUF Tally - a quick, no-holds-barred call of this

-- The Danger of Cortisone: For those that don't yet understand
how cortisone works, you're essentially numbing the area to get past the
pain and discomfort associated with an injury to continue "on" -
"gutting out the pain", and getting through the current task. What's
missing from the overall equation however is that while the pain is
subdued, while you can continue to function without relative discomfort,
the reason you're feeling "pain" is because your body is registering
injury and compensates to deal with it. Swelling is the body's way of
immobilizing broken parts to help reduce physical damage and if you
can't now feel the pain, you've no reason to stop. That means that the
damage your body was trying to tell you about and help you avoid WILL
occur with absolute certainty. It's a dangerous little mix of hope,
paycheck and desire in the NFL, and it's a gamble MANY players never
recover from. Let's hope Matt sees the light or is truly just faking it
all. "

Ultimate Fighter: Heavyweights - Week 4 Review Listen to
the "TUF Tally Call" for this fight!
It's always been said that
good things come in threes. I'm here to tell you today that this week,
4s is the best number. In this 4th week of SPIKE's The Ultimate Fighter,
we see some of the best samples of Mixed Martial Arts television content
EVER. Is it because of the fight showcased? Nope. Is it because we - see
MORE KIMBO SLICE? Not at all. This episode is all about showing you
perspective and it's great to see in a show where only a year ago, we
were being "entertained" by bodily-fluid-drenched sushi.
Glove-up, straddle in and knuckle up as we get to this 4th week of
SPIKE's The Ultimate Fighter: Heavyweights here at THE SAVAGE SCIENCE!
As with many of my online reviews, I'll be reviewing this episode in a

-- Kimbo's Style Really Changed: Umm, not really. While his
physique surely has changed from training well, eating mostly good
things and two-a-day professional training sessions, he still looks to
me like the Kimbo that - fights with his hands, doesn't he? Where is all
of this dynamic movement and "ground game" that the people featured in
this opening volley are talking about? Seemed to me that Kimbo, threw
punches, got mounted, lived through the first round and then - in the
second round, got mounted and done. Other than LOSING again, what trend
have we started here with a "new" Kimbo Slice?
-- Kimbo did good - he lasted out the round...: Kimbo lasting out
the round had nothing to do with Kimbo, and everything to do with Herb
Dean. Dean allowed the first round to lapse and then stepped in,
appropriately, finally, in the second after Roy mounted the crucifix
again and was pounding (albeit lightly) on Kimbo's head who did nothing
to move, shake or "defend himself." That folks = a "W". Re-holster
bitching and move forward."
"Mike Wilkerson
collects his thoughts and engages the power of his electrified pencil to
give you a breakdown of what is clearly one of the most anticipated
Mixed Martial Arts events of this young fall season. Tonight, we'll
witness Kimbo Slice and Roy Nelson take center cage and show us a much
anticipated event. Will it stack up to the hype? Will we finally see the
spawning of skill set in the corner of Kimbo Slice? Will the veteran of
the IFL put that belt of his squarely on Kimbo's shoulders and win?

-- Strange Vibe and Pace to this Episode: I'm not sure how to
collect my thoughts here, but there's something amiss in this episode.
Is it that we're just wanting to get to the fight and - CAN'T instantly?
Is it just that there's a TON of focus on Kimbo during the entirety of
this episode? It's hard to put an electrified pencil on but there is a
very strange vibe in process here."

Martial Arts review ride for you as week two of SPIKE's The Ultimate

Fighter season.
-- Styles Make Fights: While being railed on, Roy Nelson notes
that "Styles Make Fights" and I can't agree with him more. I do believe
that phrase shouldn't be a stall tactic for doing what he wants however.
Thankfully we see Rashad and his fellow coaches take a stand and present
some helpful reminders to Roy.
-- Not everyone would take times to show me things: Kimbo here,
who by the way we've completely written off after some profoundly
ignorant comments about Inside: MMA's Bas Rutten last week, affirms that
he's never been shown anything. Kimbo, you sir have a very short,
selective memory. There are many people that have not only shown and
cradled you as you were put on to a pedestal - you took in those
offerings and then threw them to the wind as you failed and fell from
that lofty platform. You have an even longer road to hoe for me than
ever, Kevin."
"It's been way too long
since the electrified pen of Mike Wilkerson took you on a magic MMA
carpet review ride, but as we return back to the SPIKE-based realm of
The Ultimate Fighter in its 10th season, the buzz of entertainment,
education and fun engages! Two teams, led by two previous Ultimate
Fighter contestants who dislike each other, whet the whistle of all
previous and new Mixed Martial Arts fighting fans tonight. Strap in,
knuckle up and prepare for a season of reviews like no other!
As with many of my online

encourage everyone to send feedback in regard to any of the points below

YOU think about this year's Ultimate Fighter season.
-- In walk this year’s stars - and they are ALL HUGE: My reviews for
SavageScience.Com have only included the last two seasons where there
are fighters of all sizes. THIS season offers something literally
monumental. THE FIGHTERS ARE ALL HUGE. Even the smallest guy is a mini
wrestling giant, providing solid power and ground experience that
promises not to disappoint. I'm not usually a fan of the heavier
fighters, mostly because they're usually slower, less work ethic but
plenty of punching power. That's not going to be the case this season I
feel. The land has literally opened and released untold power and
anticipation that is topped off with..."

My name is Mike Wilkerson, and I am an DVR'd MMA Fight Junkie.

It all started more than a year ago - on Father's Day - a warm a

is fatherhood. We had returned from a day out at our local residential
park, complete with Bar-B-Q, cold drinks, beach balls and sunburn - ah,
how the white Irish skin of the Wilkerson clan burns a lobstah-red.
While taking a delicious ice-cold shower to begin the reversal of
red-skinned fortune, my wife came to the bathroom to tell me about this
"thing" she saw on television while channel surfing. "Some men are
